Rough Cut

Here is a rough cut of our footage. The second verse isn't in this version.

Monday 13 December 2010

Day 5 of shooting

We arrived at Leigh-on-sea at 11:00. We were all enthusiastic about our filming day manly because of the ideas we had to offer and the fact that we wasn't really familiar to this neighbourhood. We planned to shoot a few scenes by the sea, establishing shots of our chosen location, cobbled street and a few additional shots just for any emergencies. When we arrived at our destination, the first thing which caught our eyes was a sort of hill with houses at the top of it. The hill gave an illusion of being up in the sky and also it provided a  really stable establishing shot. We filmed a few shots of this and then we went on our way to find our next destination: A cobbled street. When we found this, we immediately filmed a few long shots of our actress walking on the cobbled street while lip syncing. we had a few disturbences of pedestrians getting into the shot and occasionally parking their car in our frame shot. In the end we filmed a decent footage. Luckily the cobbled street was right next to the sea however when we got to the sea the tide hadn't risen yet so we filmed a few scenes of me running on the sand, picking up the sand, sitting on the sand. We really thought about different angles because we got varied shots of these.

Overall, we filmed everything we planned to do and we even got in some additional shots. The weather was nice and not too cold and this made filming much easier because we were not affected by the cold weather.

Shooting: 11/12/10

The start to our shoot could be summed up in one word: Nightmare.

We went to shoot the scenes at Leigh-on-Sea. We planned to meet at West Ham Station for 10am to get to Leigh-on-Sea for around 11am. We all met up as planned and got on the train. We were about 10 minutes away from Leigh-on-Sea so we decided to get ourselves ready by putting the tape in the camera. However the camera kept displaying an error message saying: REMOVE THE CASSETTE. This was unusual as we had never seen this message before, when we removed the tape to our horror we found the camera had chewed our tape. We had some spare tapes and hoped that it was a problem with the tape but we put in another tape only to have the camera chew that one too.

Luckily I had my FlipVideo camera on me which we were forced to use to film our footage. This wasn't ideal but it was better than going all that way only to have to come back with no footage. As we were at the seaside we checked the tide clocks the day before to see when the tide would be coming in. The tide was very far out when we got there so we planned to film scenes on the cobbled streets around the village whilst we waited for the tide to come in. Thankfully, the rest of the shoot ran smoothly.

Experimenting with Photoshop - Magazine Advert 1

This is the magazine cover which I created on the day of the photoshop workshop. This is the practice version I created. This image was taken in our media classroom on Tuesday but using photoshop I blurred the background and brightened the artist to make her stand out. I chose to do the artist name in this font and design as I got the idea from my magazine research. The magazine cover that had Hawksley Workman at the front had the layout like this and therefore I got the idea from this and decided to try it on this cover.

Experimenting photoshop- Advert 3

In this lesson, we experimented with photoshop in order to get some practise when doing our digipak and magazine advert. Even though it's not finished and is a working progress i think it taught me how to use lighting, layout, and colour to create an effect image

Weather and Tide time

We have decided to film on this coming saturday. We will be going to Leigh-On-Sea to film our remaining footage. As we will be filming by the sea, it is important to be sure of any weather conditons.

Experimenting with Photoshop - Magazine Advert 2

Today we had a magazine designer come in to teach us the basics in how to use Photoshop. The image above is the advert that I began making in the workshop. We looked at the typical things you'd find in a magazine advert during research from a previous lesson. Although, the advert isn't finished it does include the main things you'd expect to find on a magazine advert for example the name of the artist, the album release date and where the consumer could buy the album.

Planned Shoots

08/11/10
We have decided to re shoot the scenes in Trafalgar Square. After uploading our footage, we realised that whilst there we failed to get a establishing shots or any shots of famous landmarks that we could cutaway to. In addition, as this scene is a time lapse scene, it was important that our actor stayed completely still for a long length of time so that when the footage is sped up, she is still throughout. However, we didn't film her standing still for long enough.

09/11/10
On Thursday, we have decided to go and film the scenes for the first verse and chorus. This is the argument scene between our two actors. We had originally planned to do this at Sonia's house but Sonia mum wasn't as keen on us filming there so we changed our location to my house.

Magazine Advert Research

The research that I did in class was looking at 5 different album posters and see who the artist is and what genre, the images and effectiveness and which elements from each of the covers would i be able to put into my on album cover.

The first artist I found was a solo artist named Paul Weller, I didn't know what music genre he was so i assumed he is either rock or country music. The images used in the cover was there was a huge picture of the artist playing the guitar and also there were still pictures showing the extra documentaries about him. These images were very effective as they gave us an idea of what sort of instruments he uses but also shows us there are special features included such as the documentary about his life. Therefore this shows the what people miss out on when they download rather than purchasing an album cover which includes extra features, documentaries. The elements which we may be able to take from this cover are the still shots from the music video and also the layout and font size and colour.

Another artist I found was Crowded House Intriguer, the images used in the cover was of a bear which was very effective as it makes people want to find out more about it. The picture and the font colour and size stood out which was an effective way of getting audience attention. The elements that would probably be used from this cover would be the size and colour of the font and also the release date, sponsors.
Another artist was Hawksley Workman, the image on his cover was rather large of him holding a guitar and there was his name in a large format going across him. All of these covers had the release date, band website and other websites like amazon.

The elements we could take from this cover would be the layout as in having the artist stand or sitting with the name of the album going across them.

The fourth artist i looked at was Hearts and Minds Seth Lake, there weren't many images on this cover however the unique font they used was very effective  to catch the audiences attention. As this looked very effective it will be one of the elements we could use for our album cover and also the plain backgroung color which makes the font stand out.

The final artist I looked at was Gogol Bordello, his cover was of him holding a guitar and standing in front of a lampost and and a wall which had the words 'Gogol Bordello'. What was effective about this cover was the layout of him standing in front of a lampost and wall which clearly made the name stand out. We could use this element of the cover in our own album by having our artist stand in front a of a plain wall and the use photoshop to customise it. Our photoshop class will be held on Wednesday so we can learn and practice our ideas.

Magazine Advert Research

Studying 5 magazine adverts from different artists allowed me to understand what we could possibly use in our magazine advert. From looking at a variety of different adverts, I was able to understand the common features of an advert.

Manic Street Preachers
This advert by Manic Street Preachers is effective as it shows a man taking a photograph using a polaroid camera something that is rare in use today. This gives the advert an edgy look. The advert uses star ratings and comments from well known magazines and newspapers as a persuasive technique in order to convince readers that the album is good so they will buy it. This is a main feature of the advert and takes up a large part of the page.

Weller
This advert by Weller as it makes the artist stand out as a solo artist as it shows all eyes are on him, the image is very dominant and the use of strobe lighting and spotlights add to this. This is also used to advertise his documentary and as it is a CD/ DVD box set, this gives the reader an extra incentive to buy the CD as they are getting more. We could also give the reader something extra to persuade them into buying our artists album and not just download it.

Warpaint
Just like our artist, this is Warpaint's debut album. It is interesting to see that the image of the band is the most dominant on the page. This shows that they are establishing themselves as a band to a world that is unfamiliar with them. The use of star ratings from magazines makes the advert persuasive the magazine's have a good reputation in the music industry and so their opinion would be taken seriously.
Hawksley Workman
The image of the artist is the background image. This is effective as the image is dominant and makes the artist stand out. Also, the album image is also effective as it allows the audience to make the link between the artist and album, so they know what to look for when buying the album.

Crowded House
This advert uses an animation of a bear, unlike the other adverts there is no image of the artist. This makes it seem as though their name speaks for itself and because they have such an established fan base they don't need to show their picture.

Analysing Advert Research

In the lesson we looked at CD advertisements on different artists. Looking at these adverts helped to highlight the significance of album covers as they all had their own original ideas to suit their audience type.
The following information explains my understanding of CD advertisements:
Manic Street Preacher: This is an image of a half dressed man taking a polaroid photograph in black and white. This image is effective because it clearly stands out of the page and the man is holding a polaroid camera which we don't use much nowadays.  I think that doing this shows that the artists may be into the style of music that existed in the 60's as that was when it became common for everyone to use. It caught my eye straight away because of the size of the image and the fact that the man is half dressed. I think that the advert focuses on the artist image. It would be a good idea to also focus on the artist image because we will be promoting a new artist so having an image of the artist shows any consumers what the artist is like.
Warpaint: This is an image of four women dressed in hippie style clothing, each representing their individuality. This image of the band is bigger than the album cover. This therefore shows that the band are trying to promote their band for consumers to be familiar with them. Taking this to mind we would also use and image of our artist to show establishment.
Weller: Th

Rough Cut Footage - Verse 2

Hey guys, we would like get some feedback from you concerning our music video
1) Watching the music video, what do you understand from the narrative?
2) Is the location suitable for the narrative?
3) Does the artist look like another artist in the indie-pop genre?
4) Is there anything else you would like to see in the music video?
5) What do you understand from the narrative in this clip?

Shooting: 24/11/10

Today we went to film the scenes at Shadwell Basin. This is the scene immediately after our actor leaves the house angrily after an argument with her boyfriend. This is where a lot of the lip synching during the song takes place and so it was important that we planned this shoot well. In addition, we also had another actor on set so we had to make sure that both actors were ok and knew what they were doing at all times.

The day ran relatively smoothly. We played the song in the background so that our actor could sing along  on the beat, to make the lip synching easier. We ensured that we had a variety of shots and took establishing shots of the location to give us things to cut away to in editing. We didn't have many problems during this shoot the only thing again was the weather and our actors weren't really used to working in those conditions.

Shooting: 23/11/10

Yesterday, we went to film in Trafalgar Square. This is the bridge of the song and where we would like to do a time lapse with our actor standing still amongst people walking fast around her. The lyrics at this point say 'Gotta run run run' over and over again and we thought that it would be a nice contrast to have our actor at a stand still whilst the world around seems to be going in fast forward.

This was our first day shooting and the main problem we had was the weather. Although, we looked at the weather forecast for the week we didn't anticipate that the weather would be that cold, it was especially difficult for our actor who wasn't able to wrap up warm as we had to film. The day was ok.

Weather Forecast

Since we will be filming this week we have taken into account the weather as we do not want any surprises along the way. This week will be dry but a bit cold and so this is ideal. As we do not know what the weather will be like next week, we have decided to film all of our outside footage this week so we can be sure to have to same weather in our footage.

Shooting Schedules

Upcoming Shoots:
23/11/10
We have confirmed that we will be filming tomorrow at Trafalgar Square. We will all be meeting for 12:00 to get there for 12:30. We would like to film the time lapse scene, transition to Leigh-on-Sea and a shot reflection in the fountain. Hopefully we can get a solid 2 hour shooting without any disturbances.

24/11/10
On Wednesday we will be going to Shadwell Basin by the canal to film storyboard number 21-30. Different angle shots of actor, jumpcut and transition for next location. We will be using our lipsynching techniques here.

We are yet to confirm the dates for when to shoot at Leigh-on-Sea and Sonia's mum bedroom.

Animatics - Part 2

Friday 19 November 2010

Animatics - Part 1

We split our song into two sections and all did the storyboards for that section. We all took responsibility to create an animatic for our section. Here is part 1:

This is the first verse and chorus of the song. It begins with the artist and the actor playing her boyfriend having an argument. In this argument, the boyfriend is pleading for another chance and the artist is ready to let the relationship go. We see her turning her back on her boyfriend and look at a framed picture of them during happier times, the scene cuts away to the present and when in cuts back the boyfriend is no longer in the picture. This reflects how he has disappeared in the artist's mind. This rest of the section shows the artist leaving the house in tears at the breakdown in their relationship.

Sample Footage

Today, we went out to film some practice shots for our music video. It was important that we did this as we plan to have shots of our artist walking towards the camera, this means our camera person will have to walk backwards when filming. By practicing, it allows the camera person to get use to this and focus on keeping the camera steady.

We experimented with several shots including side shots, low angle shots and high angle shots. The location we chose had a really nice line of trees and so we thought would could experiment in editing with jumpcuts by setting the camera on the tripod and filming our artist next to every tree. Doing this has given us even more ideas of shots that we could film to give us a variety when it comes to editing.

The video below shows an small edited clip of the sample footage we shot, we just focused on a few lines of the second verse of the song.

Experimenting with Transitions

Here our group was exerimenting with transitions. We all came up with an idea of using a transition to show the singer move from one location to another. We first planned to have the singer walk past a tree and then appear in another location but the idea was not going to work as the next location did not have any trees therefore after a bit of research we found on youtube different objects we can use in order to do the same thing. So we decided to have the singer walk past the camera and then suddenly we would see her ending up in a different place. We were trying different types of transitions to see which one will suit best for our main clip.

EXPERIMENTING WITH TRANSITIONS

Photoshoot

Our target for Tuesday's lesson was:

  • to finish story boarding
  • take photos of our characters (as we would like to use these pictures as a prop when shooting the bedroom scene)
In our storyboard, we have a close up shot of a framed picture of the couple on their bedside table. We'd like to use a tranistion to make it seem as though her boyfriend disappears from the picture, just as their relationship seems to have disappeared with their argument. We took quite a few images so we could look through them and choose the best two to take to the print shop.

We choose this location because we wanted a backdrop of yellow and green coloured trees as it brought out the autuamnal weather. However this was not too important as the pictures taken would come out as a medium shot so not many of the background image would be seen.

Here you can see Maria taking an image of our male actor, Tyrone and Sonia. We asked them to act as a loving couple.

Here you can see Maria taking the same image but with Tyrone out of shot. We made sure Sonia stayed in exactly the same position to make it easier when it came to editing.
Below are some other images of the photoshoot.

Genre Research - Album Covers (Continued)

Diana Vickers - Once

This Diana Vickers album cover reflects the artist image as everything right down to the artist name and title of the album is quirky. Even though she is wearing a dark coloured costume, this is contrasted by the splash of colour across the front. This shows that we could make our album cover a reflection of our artist's personality and it doesn't necessarily have be a depiction of the song.

Eliza Doolittle - Eliza Doolittle

This Eliza Doolittle album cover, similar to the Diana Vickers cover is also fun and quirky. This is a self-titled album and establishes the artist as this is her debut album. From this we have decided that our CD will also be self-titled as Runaways is our artist's debut single.

Posted by Maria Grillo

Artist Profile - Costume

We have been looking for a costume that our artist could wear in the our music video. From our audience research, we have all agreed that the artist should wear:
  • Accessories - These should be a mixture of chunky bangles. Similar to the ones pictured below.
  • Hair Styling - The artists hair should be dark, wavy/curly.
  • Costume - Our artist will be wearing four different costumes in the music video. The first one is when the artist is at home so we think our artist should wear jeans and a simple top. This costume is casual and reflects the relaxed comfortable atmosphere you'd expect in a home. We see the artist in the second costume after the argument here she is wearing a grey woolen coat and a dark coloured scarf. This reflects the mood she's in after being in a heated argument with her boyfriend. We are still yet to decide the other two costumes our artist will wear.

Locations, Locations, Locations!

http://www.eriding.net/media/photos/geography/where_i_live/howden/050421_rfoster_mp_geo_howd040.jpg
Leigh-on-Sea
From our audience feedback, our audience thought that a suitable location would be a beach. Taking this idea on, we found Leigh-on-Sea to be the best location because it is known to be a quiet seaside, not many people go there and this means that we won't have the problem of people interferring with our shots.

Shadwell Basin

Shadwell basin is a location which we will be using for our music video. We chose this location because of the time of the year. Autum is when all the leaves are falling down, bringing an out orange and red colours. This colour will provide a nice back drop for our artist performing.

File:Liverpool Street station entrance Bishopsgate.JPGLiverpool Street - Liverpool street is a location we are considering. This is because we want our artist to stand out and look different from everyone else from the setting she is in. Liverpool Street is the best options as it is normally surrounded with businessmen and women.

Sonia's Mum's Bedroom - This bedroom fits the type of room we're looking for for the first verse of our music video.

Genre Research - Album Covers

Lily Allen - It's Not Me, It's You - The reason why we have chosen to upload this album cover as we hope to make some things similar on our cover. We hope to have her alone because again we want it to be linked with the lyrics, there are bits in the lyrics which use the word "scared", "alone" ect. Therefore we intend to make our album cover look slighlty similar to these covers.

Adele - Make You Feel My Love - The reason why we have chosen to upload this cover of Adele is because we hope our album cover will be similar to this in terms of having a picture of our singer alone to show she is alone and vulnerable which will be linked to the lyrics of our music video.

Audience Research

Above is a short clip of our audience research. We went to our target audience and played them our song. From this we asked them to think about Location, Costume, Artist Image and Narrative. There was a lot of useful feedback that we gained. The main points were:
  • Locations - Our audience thought that possible locations to shoot in would be a seaside, in someone's home. There was also another suggestion to shoot in an underground train station, the person that suggested this thought that this would give the video a grimy, down to earth feel.
  • Costume - Our audience thought that the artist should wear a maxi dress, have her hair down possibly wavy, accesorise with bangles and a long necklace, possibly wear cowboy styled boots.
  • Artist Image - Our audience thought that our artist should be around the age of 21 and have a quirky 'Diana Vickers' look.
  • Narrative - One idea for narrative was the artist going through a break up which is similar to our initial idea having listened to the lyrics - this is good as it means we are thinking along the same lines as our audience, this will make them more likely to consume our media text. Another idea was that the artist should be invisible and performing amongst the narrative. This links to the idea of voyeurism and makes it seem as though the artist is looking into other people's lives. If we go with this idea, we will need to have very good actors otherwise we may risk confusing our audience.
Below are images of Diana Vickers:

Target Audience

When creating our artist profile, we decided on our target audience.
  • Age Range - Between the ages of 15-21.
  • Gender - Our target audience will predominantly be female as our artist's song lyrics are generally about love, affection something that males may find soppy.
  • Clothing - The things that are in fashion e.g. Denim shirt and vest top, skinny jeans, lace up boots. They would generally shops in places like West End and Westfield and in shops like Zara and H&M.
  • Music Tastes - Other artists they would like would be people like Lily Allen, Kate Nash, Adele, Amy Winehouse.
In doing this, we are trying to better understand our audience in order to produce a music video that they are more likely to consume.

I put together a collage depicting our target audience:

Artist Profile - Sian Lewis

We discussed what we want our artist to be like. A profile of our artist can be found below:

Name: Sian Lewis
Stage Name: Elle Lefant
Age: 19
Status: Single
Location: She lives in Chiswick in West London with her flatmate and best friend Rachel.
Image: Quiet, humble. She is different with a sort of quirky "Diana Vickers' look.
Possible Costume: Faded denim shirt, leggings and lace up work boots.
History: She first recorded her songs on YouTube before being found by a small record label called Red Bedroom Records. She's always enjoyed singing but has had problems with her confidence ever since she got stage fright at a school talent show.
Fav quote: "I need to dream big because when it happens it's gonna happen real big"
Aspirations: She hopes to follow the likes of Adele and Lily Allen in the future.

'Runaways' marks her first single in the UK market.

Wordle - Elle Lefant Runaways

This is a wordle of the lyrics to the song that we have chosen. We entered the lyrics to the song on the Wordle website and this generated the image above which allowed us to see the most occuring words in our song. From this we can see possible themes that we can base our narrative around. The most popular words in our song are SCARED, RUN and MAYBE. SCARED could represent the feelings of the artist in our music video. RUN could mean that in our video that the artist is constantly running away from something/someone and MAYBE could represent uncertainty in the artist's life.

This will be used as a stimulus for our brainstorm when we discuss narrative in our group meeting.

Meeting Log - Meeting 1

The meeting that took place was to discuss the things we had to do in developing our video. Our plans and ideas were:
To confirm locations
Decide on individual roles
Discuss our school timetables (for when to shoot)
Confirm profile image of our character
Discuss possible storylines for narrative

Outcome:
Scheduling Timetable-  We have planned to shoot our video on these days as we are all free at these times and days.Wednesdays 11am -1:15PM (We cannot go too far on this day as we would need to get back to college for our next lesson.). Saturdays 12pm-2pm, Mondays 3pm onwards. We need to exchange numbers so we can contact each other for any updates or problems in making these.

Locations- We discussed locations as to which would suite our narrative. The locations are Leigh-on sea, Liverpool street (pavement), London Bridge, Blackfriars Bridge, Shadwell Basin. We need a bedroom as we will be shooting a 20 second narrative before the song starts to show a relationship breakup. We chose London Bridge because we wanted a setting which would make our character stand out and look odd with everything and everyone around them. This comes across as London Bridge is filled with Buissness poeple.  Leigh-on sea seems to have a nice pleasant scenary and a pebbled street. The scenary will be effective in showing isolation and reminiscing. As the locations have been confirmed, we will need to go on a location scouting trip. As location manager, I will ask Ms Pollard on how to get to Leigh-on-sea.

Narrative- We have decided that our music video will be narrative based as listening to the song it would be appropiate to show a couple splitting up.

Roles allocated- We also discussed roles within the group.

Our song - Runaways by Elle Lefant

After a long search we found a copyright free song that we all love. The song is called 'Runaways' and is by an artist called Elle Lefant.

Elle Lefant - Runaways Lyrics

I’m scared
And some what unprepared
You think the stars will align in their own time but
I don’t care
Give me a reason to satisfy your dreams I’ll change the seasons
Winter has lasted too long
We got it

Maybe I’m scared of being alone
But baby I’ve got to hold my own
‘Cause maybe love’s not what I expected
Got to run run run to the nearest exit

I think our time is just really long
Timing is everything don’t you know?
And I’m scared
So scared
I don’t think we can work it out
I’m scared
We got nothing to talk about
So scared
Go on you can scream and shout
I’m scared
I don’t think we can work it out

Maybe I’m scared of being alone
But baby I’ve got to hold my own
‘Cause maybe love’s not what I expected
Got to run run run to the nearest exit

Maybe I’m scared
(Maybe I’m scared)
Maybe I’m scared
(I’m scared)
Maybe I’m scared
(I’m scared)
Maybe I’m scared

Gotta run run run
Gotta run run run
Gotta run run run
Gotta run run run

Maybe I’m scared of being alone
But baby I’ve got to hold my own
‘Cause maybe love’s not what I expected
Got to run run run to the nearest exit

Maybe I’m scared of being alone
But baby I’ve got to hold my own
‘Cause maybe you’re not what I expected
Got to run run run to the nearest exit

I’ve been dreaming of a broken heart
Since the day we met
I’ve been dreaming of a broken heart
And I can’t forget

Timetables

Sonia's timetable
Mirza's Timetable

Maria's Timetable

As we will be filming during the school term, it is essential that we all know when we have free lessons so that we can all make a time for when to go out to film. We also need to consider how far we will be going as we will need to be back in time for our next lessons.

As we now know each individuals timetables we have decided to film on Mondays after school Wednesdays and we will use our saturdays to go to far away locations like Leigh-on-sea.

Genre Research - The Tings Tings - That's Not My Name

The genre of the music video from The Ting Tings "that's not my name' is in the genre indie pop. The Ting Tings are a group of artists consisting of a the lead singer which is the woman Katie White and a drummer Jules de Martino. This is usually expected in this genre as groups have their own assigned instrument. The video conforms to the genre Indie Pop because of the catchy beat and upbeat song. However it also subverts to other indie pop music videos because it is set in a studio where they move around and sing whereas in other music videos there may be a narrative. The music video looks as though they are performing on stage at a concert as they concentrate on the performance aspect of the song by singing and playing instruments.  Also lights are used effectively at the start of the video which creates a big impact and reinforces the idea that they are performing to an audience as this would be present if it was at a concert. They effectively make good use of color and lighting in their music video. The clothes they wear are bright colored clothing like neon colors. This makes their music video even more effective because their in a studio where the background is white so it stands out more. Also    Voyeurism is not used at all throughout the music video, because of this we get an image construction of the band as we get close up and long shots of each individual. From this we establish what they their style is like.

As this song has an upbeat and catchy rhythm it would be difficult to compare our ideas with the way they created their music video as we would like to include a narrative and voyeurism in our music video.

Genre Research - Adele - Make You Feel My Love

This video uses voyeurism. This is shown at the beginning and end of the video as it begins with a shot from outside of the artist's window, it's as though the audience is invited into her world. Her apartment window is central to the frame and shows that although she is surrounded by so many different windows she is still alone. This makes the audience feel almost sorry for her. When in the apartment, the camera is handheld which also adds to the notion of looking. The lack of lighting in the video gives it mysterious quality and makes the audience want to know more as although there is narrative in the video, the audience can only assume what is going on as the artist doesn't give much away. Although the audience is 'invited' into her world, she doesn't look at the camera once throughout the video and therefore doesn't acknowledge the fact that she has an audience. This suggests that she is still holding things back and not giving up all of herself.

We hope to use the notion of voyeurism in our video as this seems to be a common convention of videos of the indie pop genre.

Genre Research - Lily Allen - The Fear

In this music video the director uses the notion of voyeurism. We see this in the beginning approximately in the first 15 seconds as the camera is outside the singers caravan window. It is a view which seems as though somebody is looking through directly at her. The actual video itself seems to have a fairytale theme to it in the sense that the singer starts off in a caravan in the middle of an empty field and as the song progresses, we see her in a big mansion with lots of butlers, dresses and presents. The singer seems to represent the girls in the fairytales, the ones who start off poor but in the end they get everything they wanted. Also, the video reflects the lyrics. When she starts off in the caravan, she says that she wants 'to be rich and have lots of money' and then when the scene changes to her in the mansion she says she doesn't know "whats right or real" this is shown through the dancing butlers and this kind of reflects the confusion in her mind. Also the song is very conversational as majority of the time in the video she is speaking to the camera. In  our music video of runaway we hope to have the singer singing directly to the camera as though they are having a conversation.
